THE STORY OF IYA: A VILLAGE OF AN UNEXPLORED REGION IN SHIKOKU

In a remote region of Shikoku, there is a village called Iya, hidden deep in the mountains in the western part of Tokushima Prefecture. The village, often likened to a fairyland, seems so worlds apart that one may feel as if he or she has stepped into a world above the clouds.

THE STORY OF SETO INLAND SEA: A FLOURISHING HISTORY AND MORE

The Seto Inland Sea, or "Setonaikai" in Japanese, is a body of water surrounded by three of Japan’s four main islands, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. It is the largest of Japan’s inland seas, stretching over 450 km east to west and 15 to 55 km north to south.

MEGIJIMA AND OGIJIMA: ISLAND-HOPPING THROUGH ART AND OLD SHIKOKU

With Takamatsu as a base, you have quick, cheap and easy access to a diverse range of islands in the Setouchi Inland Sea. Only 30 minutes away by high-speed ferry, there’s well-known Naoshima, the artistic focal point of the Setouchi art festival and home to some of Japan’s finest contemporary galleries.
